Rubber-Tired Trackless Electric Tractor for Container Chassis Handling
A customized 20-ton-class rubber-tired trackless electric tractor equipped with a fifth-wheel coupling system for flexible container chassis and trailer handling across indoor workshops and outdoor paved industrial yards.
Flexible Container Chassis Handling Across Indoor and Outdoor Areas
Container chassis, semi-trailers and other trailer-type equipment often need to be repositioned between production buildings, loading zones, storage areas and outdoor parking locations.
For this type of short-distance transportation, fixed rail systems limit route flexibility, while conventional road tractors may be unnecessarily large for frequent movements inside industrial facilities.
BECHUR developed a rubber-tired trackless electric tractor specifically for this type of chassis handling application.
The vehicle combines heavy-duty rubber tires, electric drive and a fifth-wheel coupling system, allowing compatible container chassis and trailers to be moved between indoor workshops and outdoor paved yard areas without fixed rails.
Moving Container Chassis Without Fixed Transportation Routes
The application required an electric towing vehicle that could move freely between buildings and outdoor yard areas while coupling directly with compatible trailer chassis.
20-Ton-Class Rubber-Tired Trackless Electric Tractor
BECHUR developed a 20-ton-class rubber-tired trackless electric tractor specifically for container chassis and trailer handling. Unlike rail-guided transfer carts, the vehicle uses heavy-duty rubber tires and travels directly on suitable concrete, asphalt and other paved industrial surfaces.
This configuration allows the same vehicle to operate across both indoor workshops and outdoor factory yards without installing fixed rails. It is particularly suitable for applications where chassis need to be moved between buildings, loading areas, outdoor storage zones and trailer parking positions.
A fifth-wheel coupling assembly is integrated into the upper platform to connect with compatible container chassis and semi-trailer kingpins, providing a dedicated electric solution for frequent short-distance chassis repositioning.
Solution Concept: Rubber-Tired Trackless Travel · Indoor & Outdoor Operation · Fifth-Wheel Coupling · Container Chassis Handling · No Fixed Rails Required
Built for Flexible Indoor and Outdoor Chassis Transportation
Heavy-Duty Rubber-Tired Travel
Heavy-duty rubber tires allow the tractor to travel directly on suitable industrial floors, concrete roads and paved yard surfaces without dedicated rails.
Indoor & Outdoor Operation
The same vehicle can move between workshops, loading areas, outdoor storage yards and trailer parking zones without changing transport equipment.
No Fixed Rails Required
Trackless travel eliminates the need for embedded rail installation and allows transportation routes to change according to actual operating requirements.
Fifth-Wheel Coupling System
The upper fifth-wheel assembly provides a dedicated coupling point for compatible container chassis and semi-trailer kingpins.
Battery Electric Operation
Electric drive is well suited to frequent short-distance transport tasks in factories, logistics yards and industrial facilities.
Low-Profile Heavy-Duty Body
The compact low-profile steel body provides a stable platform for the coupling system while maintaining practical maneuverability around industrial sites.

From Chassis Coupling to Indoor or Outdoor Positioning
The tractor provides a simple process for moving compatible container chassis between multiple locations across an industrial facility.
Approach
The electric tractor approaches the parked container chassis and aligns with the required coupling position.
Couple
The fifth-wheel assembly connects with the compatible chassis or trailer kingpin.
Transport
Rubber-tired trackless travel allows the connected chassis to move along the required indoor or outdoor paved route.
Position
The chassis is delivered to the target loading, production, storage or parking location.
Flexible Indoor and Outdoor Chassis Handling Without Fixed Rails
The rubber-tired trackless electric tractor provides a flexible solution for moving compatible container chassis and trailers between indoor production areas and outdoor paved yards. Without the restrictions of fixed rails, the same vehicle can serve multiple loading, parking and transfer points across the facility.
Designed Around Chassis, Route and Ground Conditions
BECHUR trackless electric tractors can be configured according to chassis type, coupling requirements, ground conditions, operating routes and actual transportation tasks.
