Trackless and rail-mounted electric transfer carts are two commonly used solutions for transporting heavy materials inside industrial facilities.
A rail-mounted transfer cart travels along fixed rails installed in the workshop floor. Its main advantage is predictable movement. Because the vehicle follows a predefined route, positioning is simple and the system is suitable for repetitive transportation between production stations.
Rail transfer carts are widely used for moving molds, steel coils, machinery components and other heavy loads.
A trackless electric transfer cart, in contrast, does not require rails. It normally travels directly on concrete floors using industrial wheels or rubber tires.
This provides much greater route flexibility. The vehicle can turn, change direction and operate between different areas without modifying the workshop floor.
Trackless models are particularly suitable for factories where production layouts frequently change or where a single vehicle needs to serve several workstations.
However, the final selection should consider:
- Transportation distance
- Required turning radius
- Floor condition
- Load capacity
- Positioning requirements
- Indoor or outdoor operation
- Installation cost
There is no single solution suitable for every application. BECHUR transfer carts can therefore be configured according to the actual material, route and factory layout of each project.
